TV CELEBRITIES

TV Celebs

What can I say about tv celebs… from watching a lot of e!news, reading magazines and keeping up on the fashion world, the majority of tv celebs seem to be between 30-50 years of age. This age trend is taking place 1-because many of the big screen roles are played by younger actors/actresses and 2- Many actors and actresses are making good money from the small screen, and increasing popularity with the roles that they play on the small screen…So anyways back to fashion… because of the age gap most of the fashions on tv are those of “older” aged. Im not saying that what they wear isn’t hip, but compared to teens who wear next to nothing, and big screen celebs who spend up to a million dollars on a pair of shoes (eggageration), small screen actors tend to have fashion “not too flashy and not too trashy” This could be because they lived out their crazy lives of miniskirts and no shirts…. been there done that…
TV Celebs also seem to be more “undercover” when it comes to publicity and celebrity gossip. The majority of TV celebs like I mentioned earlier, seem to be over they stage of having paparazzi in their lives. They’ve been through the party phase where a lot of publicity material is gained, and they’ve been through the fashion stages of whats popular in the celeb world. This might sound a little mean, but the older you get, the less “fashion” you can wear. Yea there is fashion for older people, but the stuff that’s hott is made for young men and women with itty bitty bodies. And no I’m not saying there aren’t older men and women with hot bodies, but with respect to age, it’s not likely that a 50 year old celeb is going to wear lil Kim’s idea of fashion where there’s only a diamond gem over her bood. It seems like the more aged a celeb becomes, the more conservative they dress. This mainly goes for women. Tv celebs still wear fashionable “name” designers, they just don’t reveal as much skin therefore receiving less publicity. The older a celeb gets, the less the spend on the slinky “grab your eye” dressed and put money into things way more expensive. JEWELRY. Diamonds never go out of style, and are always noticed. Still worn by young stars, I find it more routine for older celebs to spend there money on things like jewelry and items that are “smart” buys versus spending money on nonsense like a million dollar “sweet 16” birthday party.
It also seems that because older celebs don’t receive as much publicity as younger stars, that they aren’t as fashionable. However it depends on how you look at fashion. I would say TV celebs, who don’t buy the crazy dresses, or spend massive amounts of money on nonsense are considered “Classy Fashion.” TV celebs have a more subtle way about their spending habbits. Often time older celebs have families and spend more money on others than themselves. Older celebs also seem to spend more money on charity than the younger era. Which to me shows fashion in a non materialistic way.

CELEBRITY FASHIONS:
What can I say about celebrities and fashion? I can tell you this much. If you’re a celeb, you can afford ALL the fashions. Unless you’re a celebrity who’s broke… There seems to be trends of fashion within the celebrity world. Take the Oscars for example… every celebrity who walks the red carpet receives the famous question, “WHO are you wearing.” In the celeb world “who” is equivalent to “how much.” And at the Oscars just about every celebrity is wearing “someone.” I guess they go by the rules “If you got it flaunt it.” Obviously they have the money when they wear 1.5 million dollar wedding rings or jewelry around their necks. But there seems to be fashion trends within the fashion world with regards to the different types of celebrities. "FanC Home" content

It’s obvious that “hip” fashions are forever changing. Fashion trends go in and out of style, and then back into style again. If there is one hint for fashion that I could tell you it would be to never throw things away that you like just because they aren’t “currently” in fashion. You never know when that style will come back again. Do you remember the bellbottom era? I do, and so does my mother when flares and bell bottoms were in style. Hey guess what? They came back. I even remember in grade school wearing the straight leg pants… then converting to flares, and you know what is back in style? Skinny jeans! Who would have guessed? It’s kind of hard to talk about current fashions when the trends are in constant change. Im pretty sure you can take anything that is considered a “past fashion” and turn it into today’s fashion trends. That is except for those prom dresses with the GINAORMOUS poofy sleeves… But other than that exception, “fashion” is something that is designed and created. If your into fashion, and you enjoy the trends like I do, did you ever think about creating your own trend? I remember when I was in middle school I used to wear a belt EVERY DAY because my over protective Italian Step-father said if I didn’t my butt crack would be all over the place and then boys would want to get in my pants… (just thought I’d provide a little humor). Any ways back to my point, you know how people are supposed to wear the belt buckle in the middle of the pant. Well for me the buckle would always rub me in the wrong way where it was irritating to wear the buckle in the front. As a result I started turning the buckle to the side of my pants… (and I’m not in any way taking credit for this fashion trend) But kids at school started wearing their belts to the side, and now I always see people with their belts to the side. Was this a fashion trend? YES!
The point of me telling you this is because this page is ALL ABOUT FASHION. But don’t forget that fashions are considered fashion because someone had to start them… And who’s to say that that person can’t be you! But for the time being, DIG in and indulge in the fanC fashions of me telling you “what’s hot and what’s not.” I’ll provide you with tips to make you hip, and make you hot. But please provide me with some feedback. Tell me what you want to know more about. Let me know what you think I’m wrong about. Inform me if I’m forgetting to talk about something (because I have the tendency to do this… A LOT). And last, if you have any fashion tips either additional or different to what I advise, let me know. And trust me there will be no hurt feelings.

Tips for Keeping Your hair Healthy

Many times you see people who’s hair just looks either 1- dirty nasty, or 2- Frizzy un healthy. How can you avoid your hair from looking like this. Here are some helpful hints on keeping your hair healthy.

1- If you’re young, try very hard not to dye your hair. As much as you might want the change, the more you dye your hair, the more nutrients you suck from the strands. I suggest not dying your hair until you are at the least 16 or seventeen. Even though many girls this age are dying there hair, fight the urge, you will be better off in the long run. The less you dye your hair the less chance your hair will fall out when you’re older.

2- However if your hair is dyed or if you do dye your hair make sure you purchase “special” shampoo that is designed to keep color in. Not only will it help with the dye but it will also provide nutrients to your hair.

3- If you do dye your hair DON”T DYE IT ALL THE TIME. Even if you have grey hair… accept it, don’t cover it. Do you really want to get older and older and have your hair get thinner and thinner to the point where you’re left with no hair at all? If your younger, just don’t dye your hair all the time… your going to end up looking like those girls with anorexic hair, all fragile and thin where it’s the first thing people notice about you. You don’t want to be that “nappy hair girl.”

4- When drying your hair, use some sort of heat resistant spray or cream. This really will help with reducing frizziness and split ends.

5- Don’t straighten your hair every day, the more heat you apply to your hair the frizzier and more dried out it will me.

6- DON’T WASH YOUR HAIR EVERYDAY. Natural oils from your scalp provide nutrients for your hair to keep it healthy. If you wash those oils away, you’ll end up with dry hair.

7- Be careful when you put your hair in a pony. Pony tail holders create breakage to your hair. The tighter the pony is the more breakage you are going to have… this then creates the “split end” illusion.

8- Treat your hair with either 1-leave in conditioner after you shower, or 2- conditioner treatment from a hair salon. This is a formula that protects your hair for like 15 days.

9- Get frequent hair cuts. You’re supposed to trim your hair every 6 weeks. Yes this sounds like a short time, but if you keep up on this then your hair grows at a fast rate, which = healthy!

10- If you have split ends, or if your hair is already dry and brittle, as much as you probably don’t wan’t to hear this… cut it off… Get rid of the split ends and get rid of what’s unhealthy. PERSONAL STORY TIME:
a. One of my roommates in college used to blow dry her hair and straighten it every day. Her hair was to the middle of her back and just turned to frizz and dry. SHE CUT ALL OF IT OFF. She cut her hair to her ears. But hair grows back. Now her hair looks so much healthier, and the length is coming back.

11- Lastly, make sure if you do straighten your hair, use ceramic straighteners. I mentioned earlier in “how to look hot with your hair and minutes to spare” that CHI’s were top line straighteners… They are VERY pricey, (about $150) but they will last you for years… and keep your hair healthy.

How to UpDO Your hair right: for ladies only...

When and where is it appropriate to wear your hear in more than just a pony tail? Well for starters, anytime you “go out” you should always add a little extra effort to how your hair looks… What I mean by this is don’t wear your hair out how you do at work. Read over the suggestions about what to do with your hair and apply that to a going out situation. When I say “go out” I mean either on a date or just a night on the town (i.e- bars or clubs). So ladies when is it right to wear your hair a certain way… For starters, any time you go on a date, dress up, look hot. You want to impress the guy, and believe it or not your hair has a lot to do with the way you look. When styling your hair, it all depends on the outfit you’re wearing… I suggest if wearing a top or dress that is strapless, try to wear your hair down, or at least half down. If your shoulders are open and bare shoulders are seen, for example if only a tube like top is what covers you, if you pull your hair back it tends to create an illusion that you have either really low boobs or a long shoulder to neck area. There are a coupple exceptions to not wearing your hair down with a strapless top/dress… if you have perfect boobs that draws attention away from any awkward illusions, or you are attending a special occasion where wearing your hair up looks elegant… If this is the case try to accent your neckline with a necklace. This compliments not only your neck but also your shoulders. Another tip, ladies if your ears stick out… don’t try to show them off. It might look a little awkward. Try the poof look or even the half up look where your hair is down. If you’re wearing a top that either has straps or sleeves, this is when you want to pull your hair back. However if you do pull your hair back (especially if your on a date or out) make sure you poof it or dress it up to make it look like more than just an ordinary pony tail. Also take a look at the accessories section of this cite which gives you tips on what jewelry to wear when your hair is styled a certain way.
Ladies, something I want to let you in on… when is it “too much” to wear your hair a certain way. Depending on where you are going depends on how “dressed up” your hair should be. What I mean by this is don’t have your hair in an “updo” if your going to the zoo. WHAT IS AN UPDO? Updo’s are only worn for special occasions. Updo’s usually consist of the “fancy hair style” that is curled and pinned on top of your head. There are also updo’s that can be half down, or not completely pinned on the top of your head. Take into consideration the tips I told you about weather or not your dress/top has straps or not. You CAN go to prom and wear your hair half up half down. However, make sure that you don’t go overboard on how fancy you want your hair… Here’s a personal story for ya…
“I was getting my hair done for prom and there were numerous girls there also getting their hair done. One girl (who I didn’t know) had an idea of what she wanted her hair to look like. She wanted her hair to be French braided from the bottom of her head, up, and then curled on top. The girl had the French braid all the way up to what looked like her forehead… and then curls on top of that. (IMAGINE THAT). And the thing was, the girl loved how it looked and she looked like she had a curly bush on the top of her head…”

STRAY AWAY FROM Situations like these and UGLY UPDO’s. Make sure when either getting your hair done, or doing it yourself you know exactly how it looks… If getting your hair done, bring pictures with you. Don’t trust the judgment of someone else to “figure” what you want, because you might end up with a curly bush on the top of your forehead.

Another thing to take into account is the time and place to wear these updo’s. Never overdo your hair on a date or night on the town… It’s just not appropriate… it looks like you’re trying to hard, and that’s the last thing that you want. Only wear updo’s for the following reasons:
1.) Weddings
2.) Dances (high school dances, or balls). These events are the most common for wearing up do’s.
3.) Halloween
4.) Cheerleading competitions.
5.) Days after dances (usually from the night before)

Just make sure that updo’s are worn for occasions…not for parties or to the movies… Another final fashion tip when wearing updo’s… Depending on your dress and or “theme” of a dance or event, the accent of flowers always looks gorgeous in a gals hair. With updo’s where curls are usually always involved, throw a mixture of baby’s breath in your hair, but make sure you don’t over do it and try to match the color to your dress, JEWEL (like Jewel-Osco) does this if you don’t know of a place to go. Another cute look is if you wear your hair in a side pony with barrel curls, flowers look good with side pony’s. Shoot for the real deal and not the plastic ones… But there is a rule when wearing flowers in your hair… make sure that the accent of the flowers doesn’t take away from the hair do. If it does this either means there’s too many flowers, or the flower is too big.

HOW TO LOOK HOT WITH YOUR HAIR AND MINUTES TO SPARE: girls

HAIR DO’s & HAIR DON’T’s…

So ladies, what should you do to your hair when you have the time to do it. If you’re a girl make a MENTAL NOTE: try not to wear the same hair style every day. Experiment with your hair when you have the time. Find out what works with your hair type and what doesn’t. Ask friends/significant others/people what looks best on you. The reason I say change your hair up is cause the older you get… the plainer you get. Maybe you have a routine of waking up doing something with your hair and then going to work… but the same thing every day is boring. Make people notice you by doing something different. So lets start the hot’s and the not’s.

Now let’s discuss what’s hot for gal’s with med to long hair… For starters, even though hair straighteners aren’t the healthiest for your hair try using one when you wear your hair down. I suggest don’t use a cheap straightener on your hair because it will fry it. Ceramic plated ones are the best for your hair, and straighten your hair versus heating it up and cooking your hair. Stray away from “ceramic coated” or “based.” Usually ceramic coated is good for your hair until the coat of ceramic wares away. And ceramic based usually means there’s only a small portion of the straightener that has ceramic in it. The overall best hair straightener is for sure a CHI. I recommend this, and anyone who has used one would tell you the same. Another recommendation I would make to girls is when blow drying and or straightening your hair try to use product that has heat protector in it… especially when blow drying to avoid the frizzy’s.

HOW TO WEAR YOUR HAIR Medium-long hair:

WEARING YOUR HAIR DOWN:

Alright now really back to hair do’s. Girls if you wear your hair down you can either straighten it or wear it Scrunchy curly. If you wear it curly I suggest buying some sort of “curl holder” mousse, gel, or spray to lock the curls in. If you wear your hair down, you can either have poof, or no poof, pins, or no pins, half up, or not. If you poof our hair, this entitles adding volume to your hair. Either with a fine toothed comb or a softy brush, the tactic to poofing your hair requires a lot of hairspray, a little bit of pain, and technique. So how to tease and poof:

1.) Start by dividing your hair up into 3 or 4 sections as if you were going to pull it half up. Start with the bottom section of hair and clip up the other portions.

2.) Take a section of your hair about 2-3 inches wide, pull from the ends up and spray the underneath of your hair. Then pull taught and brush comb through your hair pulling towards your head, strokes should only be a few inches in length, and you should never remove the brush from your hair until it’s nice a knotted.

3.) Continue the teasing until each layer is teased.

4.) Now you should look really funny with big hair and bulges everywhere.

5.) Now you need to even out your hair by spreading the “knots”

6.) Finish by lightly brushing your hair, and if necessary straighten the ends of your hair.

If you haven’t teased before, these directions probably seem hard to follow, so next time you see someone with poofy hair, ask them how they get it that big.

If you pin your hair half back, you can either pin it poofed, or not poofed. Poofing your hair creates a more dressed up look. You can do this with curly hair or straight hair. You can also create “the poof” with pins. This entails:

1.) Taking the section of hair you want poofed and pinned back. Go through the teasing process but only for that section of hair

2.) Then pin section of hair on the top portion of your head so that the poof has no part and the majority of your hair should be your bangs or the front section of your hair.

3.) Finish with a lot of hair spray.

The last option you can do if wearing your hair down is to curl your hair with a curling iron. If you do this don’t straighten your hair before hand. Curls will not hold as good if you already apply heat from a straighter. The best way to curl your hair includes the following…

1.) Apply mousse to wet hair, then blow dry. If not dried completely wait for air dry.

2.) Separate hair into portions as if pulling hair half back (as described in the POOF directions). Clip the rest of the section atop your head and begin with the bottom layer.

3.) Now Pick your curl size. I suggest the best looking curls are a 1-2 inch barrel. Weather or not the iron is ceramic or not doesn’t play that key of a role. (I have a $22 Revlon iron that works great! And it has for 3 years.) But you have your options.

a. The bigger the barrels, the more loose the curls will be and the shorter they will stay

b. There are the tiny barrels. These are mostly used for the ladies that have shorter hair, or used for whisp like pieces of hair curled in updo’s or those 2 pieces of hair that some updo’s have where they hang to the side of your face…

c. There is also the option of banana curling. This is hard to describe how to do on a regular curling iron so I’ll save that for another time (Maybe if you donate ill provide more info!! Ha) But if your really wanting to banana curl they sell the irons with directions of “how to.”

d. The last option is curling with a straightener. This creates a different curl look, more square like curls, and you must have a thin straightener similar to the thickness of a curling iron.

4.) The best way for curls to stay at least for me, is when I spray each individual piece I curl. I have thick hair so I need to grasp thinner sections of hair. (TIP: the smaller the section of hair, the more curl locking it will be and the better hold) Keep in mind however that when directly spraying your hair and then applying heat, it’s not too great for your hair.

a. This is why I suggest using a heat protector when blow drying, but make sure you don’t use any product in your hair besides hairspray after the blowdrying phase (unless you have completed curling your entire hair.)

b. Although hairspray directly on curling iron isn’t that great, keep in mind that curing your hair with an iron is usually worn on occasion versus daily. I would say max you can curl your hair twice a week, but take a week off here and there.

5.) After Curling all the sections of your hair flip upside down and spray your hair A Lot, getting in between each layer, then flip up and spray the rest of your hair.

a. Keep in mind that the best spray for curls and poofs is aerosol spray, but this is not “green approved” it’s very bad for the atmosphere, so try pump, it still works great and it doesn’t destroy out environment!

Girls with short hair:

There’s not as much to do with short hair as long hair… However, short hair looks really cute with a lot if hair spray, and has a different look than long hair… Unless your hair is “Brittany Like” meaning shaved, you can apply most of the med-long hair techniques to your hair. One thing I suggest if you do have shorter hair is to have bangs. The side angled across you face ones. This is what’s in today… But what’s starting to gain popularity again is the straight across bangs, but this only looks good on certain people.

Having shorter hair I suggest using more pins in your hair. You can do the following:

1.) Wear your hair straight and poofed/teased (this looks really good)

2.) Wear your hair scrunchy curly and either straight or pinned back

3.) Pulled back poof/tease into half up

4.) Bangs pulled into poof

5.) HEADBANDS!

6.) Curling your hair with an iron. Smaller irons are better for shorter hair. Try to use an inch or less barrel width

7.) “Spiking” your hair. Some stereotype this as a “dike” look (sorry if I offended anyone). But this look can look cute if done right.

I’d say the only thing that you cant so with short hair as long hair (depending on the length) is 1- Putting it in a pony tail, and 2- braided hair.

**If you ladies have any more questions, or even those reading that have short hair and want to provide some inputs of what you would do, please respond.

Wearing your hair up:

Obvi you can only wear your hair up if it’s long enough. So this is what I suggest you can do.

1.) Have your hair poofed/teased and wear your hair either scrunchy curly, straight, or barrel curled. Then pull your hair back either in a low pony, or a higher pony that about level with your nose.

2.) Also you can do the above and have no tease.

3.) Last I’d recommend wearing your hair in a side pony tail with barrel curls, or straight.

a. One rule about side ponytails, if you have bangs that are sweeped to the side, make sure that your pony goes at the same angle of your hair, two contrasting angles do not look as HOT.

b. Also a tip for covering up the pony tail is to take a small portion of your hair (about thickness of a pen) and wrap it around the pony tail holder so that the band doesn’t show. Spray A LOT and pin to position.

***If anyone has more suggestions about hair style let me know. Maybe one day I can talk about up do’s!

HOW TO LOOK HOT WITH YOUR HAIR AND MINUTES TO SPARE: for men

Guys are easier to talk about since there’s not much you can do with their hair… One style that good, is a length that you can gel. Maybe you have the idea of a “guido” stereotype but in my opinion this look is the hottest. But what’s not hot:

1.) Mullets. This is the 2000’s, stray away from the 80’s

2.) Very large moHawks are not so hot, unless your at a rock concert or it’s Halloween

3.) Long Long hair is NOT ok. Yea you might be a hippie, and like to go natural, or maybe you have long hair cause you ride a chopper, or maybe you just have long hair. But ladies like HOT. And long long hair is a NOT. I mean I guess the only exception is if you’ve tried short and it just doesn’t work for you.

4.) Shaved or buzzed heads… Sometimes this is ok depending on the shape of your head, but remember that girls like something they can grab onto, or scratch or play with… I’m talking about your hair here.

The last look that I might call ok sometimes is the “baby Mohawk.” Some guys can pull this off. The look where the head is kinda shaved but there’s a little section where hair is taller than the other. But the rule about this is its temporary, the LONGEST to go with this look is a month… then go for a different look.

For those of you guys who have longer hair but not too long, this is a cute look too. But make sure your hair doesn’t get too long where you can barely pull it into a pony, or almost pull it back. I would suggest this to be the max length you go. Usually if your hair is this length you are past the gel stage. If you have curly hair… GO NATURAL. Girls love curly! Well at least I do… Another way you can go is to the straightener. Yea this might sound over the top and girly… but these are the 2000’s! It’s a hot look.

For those guys who like to afro. Make sure your fro is froin and not floppin. If you don’t know how to pick your hair, find someone who can teach you. Make sure your hair is even, and watch for flat spots, these are not good… Along with the fro comes cornrows. If you get cornrows, make sure you have them braided by someone who knows what there doing. You should have a BIG headache from the start to the end and for a couple hours after that. I suggest take a few IB profun’s. Also the ever so famous DO-rag comes in handy when time for bed. For other times… try not to wear it a lot. It might be what some people find “HIP” but ever since people started to wear them more, white people with no braids and long hair are starting to wear them… Plus you want to show off your hair did…
